A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Making a Photo Photography Ebook
I’ve got thousands of photographs sitting on my hard drives.
Some I’ve shared, some I’ve printed, and plenty haven’t ever seen the light of day.
Sound familiar?
Lately, I’ve been revisiting my photographs from White Sands National Park, bringing together old favorites and newer work to create something I’ve wanted to make for a while: a digital portfolio ebook called Gypsum Dreams.
And I thought, why not invite you into the studio and show you how I’m doing it?
From choosing images and finding connections to experimenting with layouts and putting the whole thing together, I’ll share the creative decisions, practical tools, and occasional second-guessing that go into making a photography ebook.
Because creating something beautiful and shareable with your photographs
might be easier than you think!
So, How Does a Collection of Photographs Become a Book?
During this free Inside the Studio session,
I’ll take you behind the scenes of creating Gypsum Dreams, including:
• Choosing the photographs. Revisiting my work, rediscovering favorites, and deciding what makes the cut.
• Finding the connections. Discovering how individual photographs work together to create a cohesive collection.
• Sequencing and storytelling. Experimenting with image order, pacing, and visual relationships.
• Making the actual ebook. The software, layouts, design choices, and practical steps involved in creating a shareable PDF.
• The creative mindset. Making decisions, trusting your eye, experimenting, and knowing when to call something finished.
I’ll share examples from the project, show you the tools I’m using, and answer your questions along the way.
